Blending Asian design with Arts & Craft styling, these chairs are the refined alternative to the clunky two and three position chairs.

They are perfect for library and study areas, and elegant and fun enough for casual dining. Equilibrium performs dual functions, stable for entering, exiting and tasking, plus rocking back to relax. The extended front leg discourages over zealous rocking for the overeager.
The belting is primarily surplus automotive seat belt material; it is easy to clean and fade resistant.
Wood is European beech and sustainably sourced from FSC certified forests; adhesives and finishes are water bourne.

Danko Design

Danko's mission is to transform the public's concept of what furniture can be, by demonstrating a deeper understanding of beauty, using environmentally friendly materials, all within an affordable envelope.

The furniture designed by Danko is largely Ply-bent, a relatively new medium whose aesthetics have been explored by a mere handful of designers. They are developing a new vocabulary of shapes, forms and techniques using lamination layers as decorative elements. Ply-bent furniture is the perfect sustainable material because veneer yields 8-10 times more usable wood from a log than solid lumber. Our furniture is made using non-toxic water based adhesives, and we use recycled materials for seat suspension and padding. Our furniture is simple, sophisticated, and unpretentious.

All of Danko's products use the most ecologically-sound materials and processes available. Finishes are water-based, have low output of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), their adhesives are cross-linking PVAs, and when belted they use recycled straps.

Formaldehyde in Pressed Wood Products
In homes, the most significant sources of formaldehyde are likely to be pressed wood products made using adhesives that contain urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins.

What’s a “Pressed wood product”?

1. particleboard (used as sub-flooring and shelving and in cabinetry and furniture);

2. hardwood plywood paneling (used for decorative wall covering and used in cabinets and furniture);

3. medium density fiberboard (used for drawer fronts, cabinets, and furniture tops). Medium density fiberboard contains a higher resin-to-wood ratio than any other UF pressed wood product and is generally recognized as being the highest formaldehyde-emitting pressed wood product.
